“…the rate was 8.3% in 620 patients [7], and recently 8.4% in 999 patients from the Netherlands has been reported [8]. A multicenter study to evaluate the sensitization to isothiazolinoncs was con ducted by the North American Contact Dermatitis Group from 1988 to 1989 [9], Among 949 clinic patients patchtested with 100 ppm isothiazolinoncs only 18 (1.9%) had positive reactions. On the contrary to Switzerland, these re sults do not suggest an alarming sensitization rate to isothia zolinoncs in the United States.…”
