Microalgae as a Source of Biopolymer - A Comprehensive Review

Abstract: The growth in overall demand for plastic materials has given rise to the manufacture and utilization of plastic articles throughout the world. This has led to extreme waste production, negatively influencing terrestrial and marine life. Microplastics lead to the endangerment of health. Therefore, plastic decomposition is a difficult task. Chemical treatments, recycling, carbonizing, and landfills aren't ideal solutions for lowering plastic pollution. As a result of this, there is a need to research and identif… Show more

“…Polymeric PHAs have properties similar to petroleum-based polymers along with strong tensile strengths and high melting temperatures. Their properties like biocompatibility, biodegradability, and piezoelectricity make PHAs attractive biopolymers in biomedical applications (Ranganadha, 2022). Using microbially synthesized PHAs as models, this review aims to understand the diversity and properties of these compounds.…”

“…Devices called organs-on-a-chip are often acquired for use in a particular field of biomedicine. All aspects of the illness are taken into account during the thorough planning that goes into the development and synthesis of the systems (Ranganadhareddy, 2022c). A system is supplemented with mutant cells, pharmacological and biophysical stimulants, and certain cells that are directly taken from patients.…”
