Microbial bioavailability of dissolved organic carbon from leachates of freshwater autotrophs

Abstract: The concentration and bioavailability of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) released during senescence of aquatic vegetation varies among autotrophs, and the corresponding response by microbial communities depends on DOC bioavailability.
