Abstract:Microbubble formation from a capillary tube surrounded by a co-flowing liquid (CFL) in a mechanically assembled microfluidic chip is investigated. The influences of gas pressure and liquid flow rate on the growth and detachment of the target microbubble are studied both experimentally and theoretically. A phenomenological theoretical model which consists of an expansion stage and a detachment stage is proposed based on a previous study to predict the detachment volume and formation time of microbubbles. The de… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
