Microextraction by packed sorbent and HPLC–PDA quantification of multiple anti-inflammatory drugs and fluoroquinolones in human plasma and urine

Abstract: We developed and validated an analytical method based on microextraction packed sorbent (MEPS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled to photodiode array (PDA) detector to simultaneously quantify multiple nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and fluoroquinolones (FLQs), which may provide as combination several adverse reactions in nephrology and neurology. The linearity range from LOQs (0.1 μg/mL) to 10 μg/mL, and LODs values were 0.03 μg/mL for both NSAIDs and FLQs. The validation … Show more

“…However, the original SPE has undergone numerous modifications to date, mainly related to miniaturization or automatization [20]. Different modalities of miniaturized SPE such as solid-phase microextraction (SPME) [21][22][23][24], stir-bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) [25,26] and microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) [27,28] have also been used for the determination of NSAIDs. Magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction (MDSPE), also called magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE), uses magnetic or magnetically modified sorbents.…”

“…6 FQs contaminations create a serious threat to human health due to their harmful effects, such as drug resistant pathogens and causing allergic reactions. [7][8][9][10][11][12] Numerous methods have been developed for the determination of FQs in environmental water, bio-uids, and foodstuffs etc., including electrochemical methods, 13 liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), 14,15 high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV), 16,17 high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to photodiode array (HPLC-PDA), 18 and enzyme immunoassays. 19,20 However, laborious sample pretreatments (e.g., centrifugation and chemical pre-extraction, etc.)…”
