“…A similar analysis of operative times in a cohort study found that the smaller cannulas were inserted more quickly; it was also found that operative times could be affected by the familiarity of the operating room staff with the procedure [17,19]. However, the extra 2-3 min required in MPLC to apply clips to the cystic duct after cholangiography can be readily explained by the need to change to the 3-mm laparoscope and reorientate the view of the operative field.…”

“…Previous retrospective, cohort studies have suggested that needlescopic adrenalectomy [3] and needlescopic cholecystectomy [8] result in less pain, better cosmesis, and a quicker recovery than conventional laparoscopic surgery. Also, prospective studies con®rm the conclusion that needlescopic cholecystectomy results in less pain and better cosmesis than laparoscopic cholecystectomy [6].…”

“…Leggett et al 11 in 2000 performed, successfully, MLC with the insertion of 3 laparoscopic ports, while Unger et al 12 performing less invasively, reported successful MLC with port sizes as small as 2 mm. Many modifications for micro-laparoscopies exist.…”
