Abstract: Eucheuma denticulatum and Kappaphycus alvarezii, two tropical red seaweeds, are two of the most commercially important, cultivated carrageenophytes in Southeast Asia. Their large-scale farming through repeated vegetative propagation and virtual mono-cropping has resulted in a variety of phyconomic issues.
