MicroR408 regulates defense response upon wounding in sweet potato

Abstract: Repression of miR408 activates the expression of three miR408 target genes, IbKCS, IbPCL, and IbGAUT, leading to activation of defense response against wounding in sweet potato.

“…Previously, the miR408 family is reported to be down-regulated to target LAC2 and SVR7 which leads to promoting root elongation and chloroplast accumulation during photosynthesis, CALS6 leads to plant growth and stress tolerance (Kuo et al, 2019;Song et al, 2018). The miR164 is predominantly repressed in hybrid indicating an up-regulation in NAC1 transcription which promotes auxin signalling for lateral root development (Ding et al, 2012;Fang et al, 2014;Rosas et al, 2017).…”

“…The overexpression of miR408 in rice led to a higher pollen germination rate [ 47 ]. Overexpressed miR408 also translated to an improvement in photosynthetic performance, a higher rate of vegetative growth, and increased seed yields in A. thaliana , Oryza sativa , and Nicotiana tabacum [ 23 ]; however, the overexpression of miR408 in Ipomoea batatas resulted in a semi-dwarf phenotype [ 48 ]. In the present study, miR408-suppressed S. miltiorrhiza showed no obvious phenotype changes.…”

“…The cuttings of WT and MIM319 with four to six expanded leaves transplanted to the field for 4 weeks were used for analysis. The chlorophyll content assay was performed using the third fully-expanded leaves of WT and MIM319 according to the described before ( Kuo et al, 2019 ). The total chlorophyll content was figured out according to the formula in C T = 20.29A 645 −8.05A 663 .…”
