Microrobots Powered by Concentration Polarization Electrophoresis (CPEP)

Abstract: Second-order electrokinetic flow around colloidal particles caused by concentration polarization electro-osmosis can be utilized to controllably move asymmetric particle dimers in AC electrical fields. To demonstrate this actuation mechanism, we created particle dimers from micron-sized silica spheres with sizes 1.01 micrometer and 2.12 micrometer by connecting them with DNA linker molecules.
