“…This is proved by the reduction of the particle interface energy with the growth of K , observed in Fig. 4 (see also (3) and (4)). However, its realization is more probable under annealing in systems with K,,, > K;,, because in this case the reduction of the interface energy in the system is apparent.…”

“…In some metallic materials, transformations can lead to the formation of a structure with a lamellar morphology and a "special" orientation relationship of the phases. When such compounds as a-Fe-Fe,C [l], A1-CuAl, [2], Pb-Sn [3], and Cd-Sn [4] are subsequently subjected to prolonged annealing, the lamellar structure is gradually transformed into an equiaxial morphology while other compounds, such as A1-8' [5], (CI + P)-Ti [6], A1-Ag2A1 [7], and Zn-Sn [8] display no spheroidization; vice versa, the lamella shape coefficient can even increase. The reasons for such different behaviours are not totally clear.…”

“…A relaxation of the regularity and perfection of the eutectic lamellar structure is possible with a small addition of a third element [ 19] During solidification, the third element in the eutectic Pb-Sn alloy, acting analogously to an impurity in a single component system, will [3,11,12,14,20,22].…”
