Middle Cerebral Artery (M3) Aneurysm: Treatment of a Mycotic Aneurysm of the distal Middle Cerebral Artery with Coil Occlusion of Both the Aneurysm and the Parent Vessel
Abstract:A 44-year-old male patient presented with a mycotic aneurysm located in the M3-segment of the left middle cerebral artery (MCA). The aneurysm was detected by a follow-up cranial MRI examination, which was being performed for pre-existing septic-embolic encephalitis caused by infective endocarditis. Endovascular coil occlusion treatment was carried out for the aneurysm and the parent vessel. The patient did not develop any infarction around the occluded artery during follow-up.
