“…Mantel test for IBD analysis showed nonsigni cant correlation between genetic and geographic distances of 22 N. lugens populations suggesting unrestricted gene ow among them. Similar to our results, IBD analysis result were found to be non-signi cant in different migratory insects like Apis gossypii (Nam et al 2019) and plant hoppers (Winnie et al 2020;Tyagi et al 2022). AMOVA analysis of molecular variance of 22 N. lugens population revealed a homogenous population with only 2% variation between the populations and 98% variation within the population.…”

“…In contrast, the Bay of Bengal branch is the main cause of rainfall in south-east and north-east India, which explains the even gene ow among south and east Indian populations in the present study. Homogeneity in N. lugens populations were also reported by earlier researchers, where majority of them were sampled from east and south India (Tyagi et al 2022). While the ΔK method in population structure analysis again identi ed…”

“…When nymphs feed on plants infected by stunt viruses, they can transmit the viruses just like macropterous or brachypterous imago. Tyagi et al (2022) reported short distance distribution of brown planthopper in a plantation is performed by the nymphs, brachypterous, or macropterous imago. Short-distance distribution between plantation and long-distance distribution are performed by the macropterous imago.…”

“…Molecular evidence has been extensively used to trace the evolutionary and colonization history of animals and plants (5,25,26). Previous molecular-level studies on BPH migration based on either scattered markers or incomplete sampling could not yield enough resolution to completely differentiate BPH populations (27)(28)(29)(30). In this study, we sampled worldwide BPH populations for wholegenome sequencing and pioneer to genetically track their migratory routes.…”
