[18][19][20][21] Therefore it was decided to make an initial orientation study to find out the most critical parameters for the present system. These investigations show that the carrier argon flow-rate, the concentration and kind of acid and the addition of sodium borohydride are important for high sensitivity and reliable performance of the HG-ICP-AES system.…”

“…Very high BEC values are obtained at lower flow rates, because the carrier gas stream transports only small amounts of the hydrides into the plasma, resulting in nearly equal signal and background intensities. A BEC minumum was detected at an argon flow-rate of 0.95 l min 21 for all investigated lead compounds. This result indicates that the carrier flow-rate is independent of the hydride generation reaction, although it is the most critical parameter for the HG-ICP-AES system.…”
