Background Concerns have been raised regarding minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and its possible effect on postoperative functional recovery, complications, and survival rate after TKA. Questions/purposes We specifically asked whether MIS TKA would be associated with (1) increased operative time, (2) reduced blood loss, (3) shortened hospital stay, (4) faster recovery of ROM, (5) higher knee scores, (6) inferior component positioning, and (7) increased complications. Methods We performed a systematic literature search of randomized controlled trials between minimally invasive and standard approaches in TKA that compared operative time, blood loss, ROM, knee scores, component positioning, and complications. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 13 trials published from 2007 to 2009 of MIS versus standard TKA.

The impact of minimally invasive surgical techniques for implantation of a total knee arthroplasty is evaluated according to evidence-based medicine criteria. The patient-relevant clinical question can be formulated as: Is the rehabilitation of osteoarthritis patients with minimally invasive implantation of total knee arthroplasty faster compared to those with the conventional approach. The available literature is sorted and critically appraised with regard to methodological quality and risk of bias. Following the results of the meta-analyses the clinical question can be positively answered. Following the aspect of a structured evolution for surgical techniques, the meaning of a minimally invasive technique for total knee arthroplasty cannot be answered finally. Under the impression of more frequent surgical complications, the rating of the procedure is conservative. A general advantage is not apparent. Further studies investigating surgical learning curves, proper patient selection and the selection of the patient for such techniques are required, before the final judgement on the use of this technique can be formed.

This study analyzes the anesthesia manner about attributes the knee replacement surgery from Taiwan NHI (National Health Insurance) database based on cluster and association technique. This study used the National Health Insurance drug items selected narcotic agents, and then encoded with the health care doctors in bringing all the information associated with drugs, after data calibration and debugging, further details with the hospital files and data files associated with medical institutions, and then screening outpatient data, analyzing the distribution of anesthesia options. The results from this study will be able to see a knee replacement surgery for the choice of anesthesia in the domestic distribution of property and with the hospital, patients and doctors attribute the correlation among attributes.
