MiR-7 Regulates Pathogen-Induced Immune Response via PAK1 in the Sea Cucumber Apostichopus japonicus

Abstract: MicroRNA-7 (miR-7) is a highly conserved short non-coding RNA involved in various bioprocesses via the regulation of multiple target genes. To enrich our knowledge of the functions of miR-7 in innate immune regulation in echinoderms, we first investigated the targeting relationship between miR-7 and PAK1 in the sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus and then explored the functions of miR-7, the PAK1 gene, and the miR-7/PAK1 axis in the pathogen-induced immune response of A. japonicus. Our results showed that miR-… Show more

“…To test the specificity of the SinHIF-1α and SinGDH antibodies, the antiserum was preabsorbed with the purified recombinant SinHIF-1α and SinGDH proteins at 4°C for 16 h. The pre-immune serum from the same rabbit was subjected to western blotting analysis as a negative control. The total protein concentration determination of each tissue sample and the steps involved in western blotting were performed following the methods of Zhao et al [ 47 ] and Li et al [ 48 ].…”

“…Frontiers in Neuroscience 10 frontiersin.org miRNAs are gene regulators frequently involved in neurological disorders (Kim and Pak, 2020;Yao et al, 2020). At least seven PAK1-targeting miRNAs regulate PAK1 transcription: miR-7, 34b, 96, 140-5p, 145, 485-5p, and 494 (Yue et al, 2016;Yao et al, 2020;Zhao et al, 2022). More than 19 microRNAs target directly PAK2 expression, such as miR4779 (Koo and Kwon, 2018), miR-7-5p and miR455-3p (Hu et al, 2019).…”
