Mirror rearrangement optimization for uniform flux distribution on the cavity receiver of solar parabolic dish concentrator system

Abstract: Summary The nonuniform and high‐gradient solar radiation flux on the absorber surface of solar dish concentrator/cavity receiver (SDCR) system will affect its operational reliability and service lifetime. Therefore, homogenization of the flux distribution is critical and important. In this paper, 2 mirror rearrangement strategies and its optimization method by combining a novel ray tracing method and the genetic algorithm are proposed to optimize the parabolic dish concentrator (PDC) so as to realize the unifo… Show more

“…Chong et al [7,8] proposed a nonimaging planar concentrator and a design method to obtain a uniform flux distribution on a planar receiver. Yan et al [9] proposed a mirror rearranging method for a parabolic dish concentrator and a novel discrete dish concentrator [10], which significantly improved the flux uniformity of the cavity receiver. Evangelos et al [11] proposed cylindrical, rectangular, spherical, conical, and cylindrical-conical receivers, and the research shows that the cylindrical-conical receiver has the best flux uniformity.…”

“…In practice, large dish concentrators are usually assembled with many mirror units forming the parabolic reflecting mirrors and each mirror unit must be accurately fixed in a preset position within the truss structure [6][7][8][9][10]. The fixation or facet adjustment is realized by three support-adjustment structures located on the posterior side of the mirror unit ( Figure 1c).…”

“…With the rapid development of the world economy, lots of countries are increasingly demanding energy resources. Owing to release a lot of greenhouse gases, chemicals and toxins substances from the combustion of the fossil fuels such as coal and oil, People began to look for renewable energy to provide energy consumption, such as wind energy, hydrogen energy, solar energy, biogas and biomass energy . With the wind power growing rapidly, generate electricity by using wind turbines is economical and environmentally friendly .…”
