Abstract: Single large scale mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) deletions (SLSMD) underlie a range of sporadic or maternally inherited primary mitochondrial diseases having significant morbidity and mortality, including Pearson syndrome, Kearns-Sayre Syndrome, or Chronic Progressive External Ophthalmoplegia.
