KLLAuger decay in free aluminum atoms

Abstract: The KLL Auger spectrum of atomic aluminum has been recorded applying electron impact for the creation of 1s core hole states. The experimental results are compared to predictions obtained with ab initio calculations for spectral structures.

“…Thereby we conclude that the overestimation of the splitting originates from the 1s . Corresponding satellite spectra were also detected for the KLL Auger spectrum of atomic aluminium [17] which with an atomic number of 13 is beside silicon in the periodic . However, the calculated transitions did not match to any distinguished experimental spectral features.…”

“…Although our HFR K-shell fluorescence yield is outside the error bar, the difference is less than 10%, while the discord with our AUTOSTRUCTURE value grows to 16%. Finally, the accuracy of our HFR Auger data is further supported by comparison of the experimental relative intensities of KLL Auger transitions obtained from the recent measurements of Huttula et al (2009). The present radiative and Auger widths will be used in the computation of the K-shell photoionization cross sections of these ions, which are required in XSTAR for modeling the interesting Al spectral features.…”
