Abstract: BACKGROUND AND AIMS Acute kidney injury (AKI) often occurs in patients undergoing major cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Despite renal ischemia remains the key trigger, sustained oxidative stress is now acknowledged as a significant contributor.
