Mobile access of the DVB-T channel and the opportunity for cognitive spectrum utilization

Abstract: The main goal of the Cognitive Radio (CR) systems is the intelligent and efficient utilization of the radio spectrum. In this paper we introduce our survey in wideband spectrum measurement for studying the Terrestrial Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T) frequency bands that are one of the future candidates for cognitive radio applications. The actuality of this subject is that during 2013 Hungary changed the analogue terrestrial broadcasting system to DVB-T, partly freeing up several TV bands, thus opening the … Show more

“…The present activity of the laboratory is relating also for RF circuits, antennas, simulations and CAD design. In years 2012-14, the laboratory participated in the TAMOP-FIRST project and performed research of cognitive wireless infocommunications technologies [180]. Actually, the main activity is the participation in Ka and Q band propagation experiments in frame of ESA (European Space Agency) cooperation.…”

“…In the present paper we demonstrate mobile measurements in the DVB-T spectrum by concentrating on the occupancy statistics that can be inferred from the channel fading dynamics. We significantly extended our former paper [17] with technical details and additional measurement route; furthermore results and conclusions are amended. DVB-T users are the primary owners of the television receivers [18,19].…”
