Mobile phone screen protector glass: A TL investigation of the intrinsic background signal

Abstract: Screen protector glasses are often used to protect the display screen surface of mobile phones against physical damage. Their dosimetric properties were recently studied by thermoluminescence with the aim of using these items as potential emergency dosimeters in the event of a radiological accident. They are sensitive to ionizing radiation and they could be easily removed and replaced without destroying the phone in case of a dose assessment. However, an intrinsic background signal that partially overlaps with… Show more

“…As a disruptive technological innovation, foldable displays are rapidly gaining prominence in the field of mobile devices. , The cover window, a crucial component of flexible or foldable displays, is designed to protect internal electrical components without compromising visual effects or bending capabilities. , Typically, glass has been widely employed as a protective material for conventional screens due to its high optical transparency and surface hardness . However, the fragility of glass renders it unsuitable for the demands of flexible and foldable devices.…”

“…3,4 Typically, glass has been widely employed as a protective material for conventional screens due to its high optical transparency and surface hardness. 5 However, the fragility of glass renders it unsuitable for the demands of flexible and foldable devices. To achieve foldable displays, one of the current mainstream solutions involves the use of polymer films, such as colorless polyimide (CPI).…”

“…For example, the use of OSL from the protective back-glass of modern mobile phones with wireless charging capabilities has been suggested and a custom-made OSL reader has been built to perform the measurements without dismantling the phone (Sholom et al, 2020;Chandler et al, 2021;Sholom and McKeever, 2021). In addition, the use of TL from mobile phone protective glasses (Bassinet and Le Bris, 2020;Bassinet et al, 2022;Discher et al, 2023) has been investigated.…”
