The paper presents recent trends in the area of Cellular Automata (CA) originated microscopic models of crowd. There are many interesting applications of CA-based models, which incorporate different definitions of floor fields, grouping behavior, building complex scenarios, parallelisation of computing processes, as well as the development of validation and verification tests. Thus, due to the observed rapid development of discrete crowd simulation models, they become a real alternative to force-based ones. It is especially visible in a new kind of crowd-model application, where simulation is required to cooperate with different sensors in real-time regime.

Abstract-We propose a fast algorithm using Extreme Contour Point (ECP) to detect the angle of rotated images, is implemented by rotation feature of one covered frame image that can be applied to correct the rotated images like in image processing for real time applications, while CORDIC is inefficient to calculate various points like high definition image since it is only possible to detect rotated angle between one point and the other point. The two advantages of this algorithm, namely compatibility to images in pre-processing by using Sobel edge process for pattern recognition. While the other one is its simplicity for rotated angle detection with cyclic shift of two 1×n matrix set without complexity in calculation compared with CORDIC algorithm. In ECP, the edge features of the sample image of gray scale were determined using the Sobel Edge Process. Then, it was subjected to binary code conversion of 0 or 1 with circular boundary to constitute the rotation in invariant conditions. The results were extracted to extreme points of the binary image. Its components expressed not just only the features of angle θ but also the square of radius r 2 from the origin of the image.The detected angle of this algorithm is limited only to an angle below 10 degrees but it is appropriate for real time application because it can process a 200 degree with an assumption 20 frames per second. ECP algorithm has an O (n 2 ) in Big O notation that improves the execution time about 7 times the performance if CORDIC algorithm is used.

An aging population is bringing new challenges to the management of escape routes and facility design in many countries. In this paper the movement properties of middle-and old-aged adults are studied with series of single-file movement experiments under laboratory conditions. The fundamental diagrams for two different groups of pedestrians and time-space diagrams are compared. For the groups with different composition and status, the fundamental diagrams are totally different but maintain the same trend. Active crowd leads to inhomogeneous pedestrian flow but higher flow rate, while inactive pedestrians prefer to keep pace with others or keep larger personal space, which leads to more jams and stop-and-go waves. Density and inhomogeneous of speed do not always play main roles on the appearance of stop-and-go.
