Mobility aware‐Termite: a novel bio inspired routing protocol for mobile ad‐hoc networks

Abstract: In recent years, a lot of work has been done in an effort to incorporate swarm intelligence (SI) techniques in building an adaptive routing protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). As centralised approach for routing in MANETs lack in scalability and fault-tolerance, SI technique gives natural solutions through distributed approach to the adaptive routing for MANETs. The mobile nodes (MNs) found in existing MANETs are capable of monitoring the network status as well as data processing. Thus, the MANET can… Show more

“…The results show an improved packet delivery ratio (PDR). An overview about bioinspired routing protocols is given in [9] and the 'Mobility aware-Termite' algorithm is presented, which uses the node's position history to improve the path availability in combination with pheromone-based routing. It is able to outperform established reactive protocols in terms of throughput and delay.…”

“…Location awareness in particular has found extensive use in different types of ad hoc networks such as in VANETs, where it has been used for issues such as routing [141], QoS support [142], and security [145]. Mobility awareness has also been utilized for routing in mobile ad hoc networks [146]. In addition, CA has been used for data fusion in WSNs [147] to improve the efficiency of the process.…”
