Mode conversion and resonant absorption in inhomogeneous materials with flat bands

Abstract: Mode conversion of transverse electromagnetic waves into longitudinal oscillations and the associated resonant absorption of wave energy in inhomogeneous plasmas is a phenomenon that has been studied extensively in plasma physics.
