Model Continuity in Discrete Event Simulation

Abstract: Most of the well known modeling and simulation methodologies state the importance of conceptual modeling in simulation studies and they suggest the use of conceptual models during the simulation model development process. However, only a limited number of methodologies refers to how to move from a conceptual model to an executable simulation model. Besides, existing modeling and simulation methodologies do not typically provide a formal method for model transformations between the models in different stages of… Show more

“…The semantics of a modeling language is the additional information to explain what the abstract syntax actually means. The abstract syntax contains a set of modeling concepts and rules that specify well-formed expressions of these concepts [11,12].…”

“…In MDD literature, the most common method to define modeling languages is metamodeling [11,16]. In the context of MDD, metamodeling is the process of complete and precise specification of a modeling language ml A in the form of a metamodel mm A , which in turn can be used to specify models by using the ml A language.…”

“…Çetinkaya et al [8] present a MDD framework that addresses model continuity at the different stages of Modelling and Simulation (M&S) mirroring different models within a development process through transformation rules. The main goal of their work is to speed up the process of developing simulation models.…”
