Model Driven Architecture and Agile Methodologies: Reflexion and discussion of their combination

Abstract: Model Driven Architecture (MDA) and Agile Methods (AM) are two principal domains that are in the way of improvement and evolution in order to facilitate the development of IT projects. However, these areas evolve separately despite the great number of research that focuses on improving project' development techniques. Thus, our proposal aims to provide a method describing how can Agile Methodologies benefits from MDA, and how MDA can automate activities within AM. In this paper, we present a state of the art o… Show more

“…In order to deal with this issue, we aim to propose an agile approach where models are the key of development. We mention that we presented in our work [38]-our reflection on the combination of MDA and some agile methodologies and incremental life cycles. We have also proposed an approach that combines MDA, MBT, and V life cycle in scrum sprints [39].…”

“…Table 4 provides an overview of the Agile and MDD practices used in [3] to compare the different approaches, together with the number of occurrences in the reviewed studies. The additional columns extend this overview with the proposals by Essebaa & Chantit [13], by Romano & al. [33], by Alam [2] and by the approach presented in this paper.…”

“…Essebaa & Chantit [13] propose a combination of MDA, Scrum and the V-life cycle to improve the process of individual sprints and generating tests using model-based testing principles. The description of the approach mostly focuses on the MDD practices.…”

“…We used two track unified process (2TUP) methodology [2] to define business needs in the functional branch, and in parallel test different ML algorithms in the technical branch. Figure 1 represents the methodology used in the technical branch for the prediction part of this study.…”
