Modeling and Analysis of PV System with Fuzzy Logic MPPT Technique for a DC Microgrid under Variable Atmospheric Conditions

Abstract: Due to the easiness of setup and great energy efficiency, direct current (DC) microgrids (MGs) have become more common. Solar photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell (FC) systems drive the DC MG. Under varying irradiance and temperature, this work proposes a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) approach deployed to PV panel and FC generated boost converter. PV panels must be operated at their maximum power point (MPP) to enhance efficiency and shorten the system’s payback period. Ther… Show more

“…Figure 6 shows the flowchart for the conventional FLC approach comprising of three steps: fuzzification, inference, and defuzzification [37]. The steps of FLC analysis are as follows [38]: Step 1: The cell voltage and current as fed as input to the fuzzification block and the error and the change in error computed by this process are used for the conversion of the crisp value to fuzzy value.…”

“…An MG [6][7][8] can be defned as an isolated or connected network that can produce electrical energy from diferent hybrid sources and deliver or store it in an electrical ESS [9][10][11]. Several studies have already been carried out to develop the productivity of this type of network through the development of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms [12][13][14]. Te development of these technologies requires a low ESS compatible with this type of network in terms of lifetime costs, response time, and the amount of energy produced [15][16][17].…”
