Modeling and optimizing an agro-supply chain considering different quality grades and storage systems for fresh products: a Benders decomposition solution approach

Abstract: This paper proposes a mathematical model in the context of agro-supply chain management, considering specific characteristics of agro-products to assist purchase, storage, and transportation decisions. In addition, a new method for determining the required quality score of different types of products is proposed based on their loss factors and purchasing costs. The model aims to minimize total cost imposed by purchasing fresh products, opening warehouses, holding inventories, operational activities, and transp… Show more

“…Ghezavat et al [18], while studying tomato logistics problems, used a mixed integer programming model, and Rocco et al [19] used linear programming methods for the same tomatoes. Keshavarz-Ghorbani et al [20] used the general algebraic modelling language (GAMS) for the same purposes, and Flores et al [21] applied the framework modelling approach for the strategic design of logistics procedures for local fresh-food systems. Petrychenko et al [22] and Wang et al [23] focused on solving the problem of fuzzy data and proposed a fuzzy mathematical model [22] and a hybrid model [23] for the supply chain.…”

“…Appropriate configuration of agro-supply chains becomes all the more critical issues owing to specific characteristics of agro-products. Keshavarz-Ghorbani and Pasandideh ( 2021 ) developed a multi-product multi-period MINLP model or an agro-supply chain contributing to purchase, facility location, and transportation decisions. Since the adjusting the temperature conditions affects the quality of the products and the result their useful life, this model determines the appropriate temperature conditions based on a variety of products.…”
