Modeling and parameter identification of asymmetric restoring force of reinforced concrete shear walls

Zhou Lina,
Zhang Senlin

Abstract: Under the action of the seismic waves, reinforced concrete shear walls (RC shear walls) often exhibit hysteresis characteristics such as strength and stiffness degradation, and pinching effects due to factors such as slippage, cumulative damage of concrete, and non-uniform corrosion of steel bars or reinforcements. The hysteresis curve is asymmetric. In this paper, a nonlinear restoring force mechanical model, based on the Bouc-Wen-Baber-Noori (BWBN) model, that can describe the hysteresis characteristics of t… Show more

“…Reinforced concrete shear walls are commonly used in tall buildings to resist lateral loads (Fofiu et al, 2015;Trifa and A. Cătărig, 2015;Tiwari et al, 2023;Lina and Senlin, 2023;Mi et al, 2023;Xu et al, 2023). L-shaped reinforced concrete shear walls with a short branch refer to specific concrete walls with a height-to-width ratio ranging from 5 to 8 (CMC, 2010).…”
