Modeling and Performance Analysis of Full-Duplex Communications in Cache-Enabled D2D Networks

Abstract: Cache-enabled Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is widely recognized as one of the key components of the emerging fifth generation (5G) cellular network architecture. However, conventional half-duplex (HD) transmission may not be sufficient to provide fast enough content delivery over D2D links in order to meet strict latency targets of emerging D2D applications. In-band full-duplex (FD), with its capability of allowing simultaneous transmission and reception, can improve spectral efficiency and reduce late… Show more

“…• Firstly, we investigate the delivery time performance of FD-MEC systems by considering a realistic model of the self-interference cancellation. Our work is fundamentally different from [19][20][21][22] in terms of performance metric and analysis method. Compared with [23], which understands the cache-aided FD system from the informationtheoretic asymptotic aspect and relies on the perfect assumption of self-interference cancellation, we consider the practical interference cancellation model and focus on precoding vectors design.…”

“…The role of caching in FD D2D networks is investigated in [19], [20] via stochastic geometry analysis. By considering all possible operating modes of an arbitrary device, the success probability is derived in [19] as a function of the caching capacity and interference distribution. It is shown in [20] that allowing a hybrid deployment of FD and HD modes can potentially further improve the coverage probability in cluster-based FD networks.…”

“…Not only different design goals, but also different techniques and scenarios were considered for cache-aided D2D. Stochastic geometry was exploited to analyze networks and propose caching policy designs in [20], [21]. Considering MIMO systems, scaling laws of throughput were discussed in [22] and [23].…”
