Modeling and Simulation of a Moving Yarn Segment: Based on the Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation

Abstract: A new finite element dynamic model of a moving yarn segment has been proposed in this paper based on the absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF). Apart from taking into account the elastic properties of the yarn in three dimensions, the model also considers the viscosity in the longitudinal direction and takes into account the effect of gravity and air resistance. In this paper, the simulation described the movement of the yarn segment that is pulled by the fixer on the guideway. Then, a corresponding exp… Show more

“…All textile fiber assemblies show good air permeability due to the certain voids, 25 namely, with a certain volume fraction. 26,27 Hence, the density of the package is lower than that of polyester material and the mass of the full package is m p_total ¼ 13 kg, the corresponding volume is V p_total ¼ 0.014038 m 3 . Assuming the total winding time is 1.5 hours (t total ¼ 5400s).…”

“…Wang et al 13 presented a new flexible multi-body system approach for modeling textile systems, including the filament and the draft rollers, using the ANCF, simulated a polyester filament bundle with oil and water and obtained its dynamic behavior. Wang et al 14 and Li et al 15 established the filament element model by using the ANCF, considering the action of air resistance and the dynamic viscoelasticity of the filament bundle, and studied its motion trajectories through experiment and simulation, respectively.…”

“…The trajectory of a moving filament in space is the result of the comprehensive effect of the external factors, as well as its inherent properties. At present, most of the research on the dynamic behavior of the moving filament mainly focuses on the trajectories, [14][15][16] velocity and acceleration, as well as the tension control 17,18 and so on, with less attention paid to the research of the winding process presently.…”
