Modeling and Simulation of Solar Photovoltaic module using Matlab/Simulink

Abstract: This paper presents the circuit model of photovoltaic (PV) module. Simulation and modeling is done using MATLAB/ Simulink software package. The proposed model is user friendly and can be used as a common platform for both applied physics scientist and power electronics engineers. A detailed modeling procedure is presented. The designed model is verified by using STP255-20/Wd PV module. The IV and PV characteristics are simulated at different temperature and irradiance conditions and the results are verified. “…The solar PV circuit model shown in figure 2.2 contains the current source Iph which depends on cell temperature and solar radiation, a diode in which the reverse saturation current (ID) depends mainly on the operating temperature, a series resistance (Rs). and a shunt resistance (Rsh or Rp ) which takes into account the losses in PV cell (Jain & Ramteke, 2013).…”

“…Thus, the mobile channel exhibits a time varying behavior in the received signal energy, which is called fading. Using MATLAB for digital communication systems simulation one has the advantage of exploiting the powerful features of its Communications Toolbox along with a nice programming language [9].…”
