Modeling and verifying NDN‐based IoV using CSP

Abstract: As a crucial component of intelligent transportation system, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) plays an important role in the smart and intelligent cities. However, current Internet architectures cannot guarantee efficient data delivery and adequate data security for IoV. Therefore, Named Data Networking (NDN), a leading architecture of Information‐Centric Networking (ICN), is introduced into IoV. Although problems about data distribution can be resolved effectively, the combination of NDN and IoV causes some new sec… Show more

“…In [121], the authors also propose a protocol for secure and privacyfriendly service provisioning at the mobile edge that provides a security service between the consumers and producers based on the NDN paradigm. In [122], the researchers apply communication sequential processes (CSP) modeling and verification tools for NDN-based IoV networks to verify vital properties, including deadlock freedom, data availability, PIT deletion faking, and CS caching pollution. The model fails to ensure the security of data in the presence of an intruder, so the authors utilized blockchain to guarantee the security of NDN-based IoV.…”

“…The work presented in “ Modeling and Verifying NDN‐based IoV Using CSP ” 6 addresses the challenges in the current Internet architectures, threatening crucial requirements for the intelligent transportation system domain such as efficient data delivery and adequate data security. Although some of the challenges related to data distribution have been addressed by dedicated architectural framework (e.g., named data networking [NDN]), their adoption in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) domain does not contribute to data security requirements, rather their combination introduces new security issues.…”
