Modeling of a straight thin wire: Comparison of antenna approach and Transmission Line Model

Abstract

The objective of the paper is related to the assessment of a current distribution induced along a straight thin wire excited at its center by the unit timeharmonic voltage source using both antenna theory and transmission line approach. The Pocklington integrodifferencial equation arising from the thin wire antenna theory has been solved via the Galerkin-Bubnov Indirect Boundary Element Method (GB-IBEM) while the related telegrapher's equation for straight wires have been solved using the Transmission Line Modeling (TLM) technique. Some illustrative numerical results have been presented in the paper.
