Modeling Plant Stems Using the Deterministic Lindenmayer System

Abstract: Plant morphology modeling can be done mathematically which includes roots, stems, leaves, to flower. Modeling of plant stems using the Lindenmayer System (L-system) method is a writing returns that are repeated to form a visualization of an object. Deterministic L-system method is carried out by predicting the possible shape of a plant stem using its iterative writing rules based on the original object photo. The purpose of this study is to find a model of the plant stem with Deterministic Lindenmayer System m… Show more

“…If Euclid geometry discusses geometry in integer-dimensional spaces, such as dimension two and dimension three, then fractal geometry studies mathematics in fractional-dimensional spaces, such as 1/3, 2/3, and 5/2 (Widodo 2021). In other words, fractal space uses dimensions different from Euclid geometry, so fractal space is categorized as non-Euclid geometry (Juhari and Alghar 2021;Widodo 2021). Some characteristics of fractal shapes include self-similarity, repetition, and recursive (Barnsley 2014).…”

“…In addition, fractal shapes can also be found in nature, such as waves, mountains, clouds, plant branching, lightning, and others. Visually, fractals have high artistic and aesthetic value (Juhari & Alghar, 2021;Prusinkiewicz & Lindenmayer, 2012). On the other hand, learning about fractal geometry is still difficult for students to understand.…”

“…eir data shows that H. nepalensis harbors cancer chemo preventive and cytotoxic agents. In [13], authors have used L-System method for predicting the possible shape of a plant stem using its iterative writing rules based on the original object photo. In [14], authors mention that the applications involving 3D geometric models and generating images of objects are crucial operations.…”
