Modeling the factors affecting the quality of life in diabetic patients in India using total interpretive structural modeling

Abstract: Purpose Diabetes mellitus has become a major world health problem that has unenviable impacts on health of the people including quality of life (QOL) also and in which person’s physical and psychological state, social commitments and relationships and his interaction with the environment is affected. This shows that there is an urgent need for behavior change and considerable educational strategies for proper management and rehabilitation (Reddy, 2000). This research has identified and ranked the significant f… Show more

“…Self-care management as a strategy to cope with chronic stress enhances the healthy status (Nadrian et al, 2011). The ability of diabetic patients to learn and apply the self-care skills such as blood glucose monitoring and choosing a healthy diet helps them to control the disease complications (Ajmera and Jain, 2019) and enhance the quality of life (Mahmoudi, 2006). Figure 1 shows the overall interaction between health-related quality of life variables assessed in this study and its outcomes in diabetic patients.…”

“…The TISM (Sushil, 2012), an advanced hierarchical framing, is a new expansion of interpretive structural model (ISM; Warfield, 1974). Many researchers have applied this technique in a different domain of study (Ajmera & Jain, 2019; Dhir & Dhir, 2020; Mohanty, 2018; Singh, Sinha, Das, & Sharma, 2019; Srivastava & Sushil, 2013). A set of factors is used to build the TISM in a particular study (Rajesh, 2017; Singh, Kumar, Gupta, & Madaan, 2018; Vaishnavi, Suresh, & Dutta, 2019).…”

“…Similarly, Singh et al (2017) developed a model for green supply chain management which when implemented can change the current practices of fertilizer industry. It has found wide applicability in processing and structuring details related to any issue or activity such as career planning, process re-engineering, operations problem, strategic planning, product design, process design, complex technical problems, human resources, financial decision making, electronic commerce, healthcare, lean manufacturing, cloud computing adoption and competitive analysis (Faisal et al, 2006;Sahney et al, 2010;Attri et al, 2017;Sushil, 2018;Khaba and Bhar, 2018;Raut et al, 2018;Chaple et al, 2018;Ajmera and Jain, 2019). In retailing context, Venkatesh et al, (2015) used ISM in identifying supply chain risk variables in Indian apparel retail chain.…”
