Modeling the Interaction Between Natural and Hydraulic Fractures Using 3D Finite-Element Analysis

Abstract: Summary We built a 3D geomechanical model using commercially available finite–element–analysis (FEA) software to simulate a propagating hydraulic fracture (HF) and its interaction with a vertical natural fracture (NF) in a tight medium.
