Modelling of Fault Detection and Diagnostics for Hybrid Bus Using Chain Graph Models

Abstract: Graphical models are statistical models supported on a graph structure: nodes represent random variables, and missing edges represent probabilistic relationship of conditional independence. This makes them suited to model the behavior of complex systems that are difficult to model through mathematical equations. In this work, this possibility is exploited in a context of diagnostics and fault detection. Specifically, the fault detection problem is reduced to the evaluation of a conditional probability. “…On the other hand, black‐box testing is performed on the system itself during runtime, only by checking whether the system behaves as expected and without knowledge of the internal structure 8 . Fault detection is performed for identifying the probability of anomalies occurring during the software execution 9 . The availability of the programming code, the complexity of the system and the number of technologies used for its development all pose very important factors for the choice of the testing technique type which will be used for its verification and validation.…”

Black-box testing is more suited for complex systems with multiple subsystems developed by using different technologies, or in cases where parts of the systems are legacy or domain-specific, requiring specialized testers.…”

“…In engineering, quality and reliability are critical for a system or its component, such as complex medical devices in the hospital, 1 the engine in a car system, 2, 3 and the rechargeable battery in an equipment 4, 5 . An effective anomaly detection system can improve the quality and reliability of these components during operation 6 .…”
