Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show the advantage of introducing Periodic Review and Continuous Review management model application of inventories, in order to possibility to define and maintain a service level management for customers using simple mathematical models using recovery of established inventory management techniques, based on in the appropriate literature. As researches that refer to inventory management are growing day by day and gaining interest from investors and researchers, who seek to monetize the capital employed. Businesses fail to make their merchandise available end up damaging the company's brand and culminating in their customers looking for other sources. This work based on periodic review and continuous review method was applied to inventory management of resale material suppliers of an auto parts company. These methods were directed according peculiarities of each supplier, being continuously reviewed for local material supplier and periodic for imported material supplier. The application of the methods in the studied company demonstrates total cost reductions in inventory management and annualized marginal gains in the resale market for local suppliers, while also maintaining an adequate level of service, for Import Suppliers in order to maintain a sufficient level of service to supply sales and reduce disruptions, an investment in inventory maintenance and specific studies were needed to determine the best cost benefit for the chosen level of service, the method used for imported materials proved to be significant, as marginal gains were higher than those of the local supplier. The applied method reduced disruptions, through the greater availability of materials for resale, based on demand-based studies and controls for predicting variability, the development of the model with periodic and continuous review application of the inventory management of an auto parts company.
