Models for ammonia

Abstract: Ammonia is almost a unique molecular species, with respect to its prevalence in the cosmos and on Earth. It plays special roles in the Chemical and Physical sciences. In this essay, attention is directed to its structure, dielectric, and spectroscopic properties that upon first consideration suggest an inconsistency, which is resolved when the roles of models are properly assessed.
