Modified Carbon Nanotubes Decorated with ZIFs as New Immobilized Metal Ion Affinity Chromatography Platform for Enrichment of Phosphopeptides

Abstract: ZIF‐8, as one of the most representative zeolite imidazolate frameworks, is rarely used for the enrichment of phosphopeptides due to its dissolution in acid solution. By introducing branched‐chain polyethyleneimine (PEI), we have overcome the acid‐intolerance shortcoming of ZIF‐8 and applied it for phosphopeptides enrichment. A material with magnetic carbon nanotube (mCNT) as substrate, polydopamine (PDA) as hydrophilic interlayer and PEI‐ZIF‐8 as functional groups (denoted as mCNT@PDA@PEI‐ZIF‐8) was prepared … Show more

“…Detailed comparison of enrichment performance with other reported MOF-based materials is listed in Table . ,,, The comparison consisted of sensitivity, selectivity, recovery, and biological application. It was clear that Fe 3 O 4 @MIL-101-CoPc showed better performance in aspects of selectivity and recovery for the enrichment of low-abundance phosphopeptides.…”

“…In addition, carbon nanomaterials have attracted attention in the areas of diagnostics and biomarkers, especially in the detection of phosphorylated proteins and peptides in biological samples. The characterization of phospholipids and phosphorylated proteins provides important information on physiological and pathological states associated with the removal or addition of phosphate groups, which control cellular functions [ 113 , 114 ]. However, phosphorylated biomolecules are labile, which poses a challenge in proteomic analyses.…”
