Modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach (M‐TAPA) for nephrectomy in children

Abstract

Thoracoabdominal nerves through the perichondrial approach (TAPA) block was described by Tulgar et al., later, the technique was modified to a single injection technique as M-TAPA. 1,2 Since then, M-TAPA block has been used successfully for postoperative analgesia in various procedures, such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic ventral hernia repair, gynecological surgery, and also for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia. [3][4][5][6][7] All the previous reports are from adults, and very few reports of its efficacy in pediatric cases exist. Here, we present the successful use of M-TAPA blocks for nephrectomy in two pediatric patients via two different surgical incisions. Consent obtained from the parents.
