Modulating oxidative stress counteracts specific antigen‐induced regulatory T‐cell apoptosis in mice

Abstract: Treg are known to have a central role in orchestrating immune responses, but less is known about the destiny of Treg after being activated by specific Ags. This study aimed to investigate the role of superoxide dismutase, an active molecule in the regulation of oxidative stress in the body, in the prevention of Treg apoptosis induced by specific Ags. Ag‐specific Tregs were isolated from the DO11.10 mouse intestine. A food allergy mouse model was developed with ovalbumin as the specific Ag and here, we observed… Show more

“…The general characteristic of Tr1 cells is its secretion of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and the absence of the expression Foxp3 [1,2]. Tr1 cells have attracted greater attention because of their role in peripheral immune tolerance [3,4]. Published data indicate that the regulatory T cell dysfunction is involved in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergy responses, psychological stress, oxidative stress, and immunological peripheral tolerance [3][4][5].…”

“…For example, hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) secreted by tumor-associated macrophages promotes tumorigenesis by reducing the activity of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells [ 49 ]. This suggests that ROS modulate the behavior of cancer cells and T cells, so that according to their increase or decrease in the tumor microenvironment, they can promote or slow down tumor progression [ 56 ].…”

“…14 Similar to this, polystyrene graed on rGO via an emulsion polymerization method showed improved dielectric behavior of the composite. 15 An analytical device fabricated with a polystyrene@rGO composite prepared via an electrostatic interaction process showed promising performance for the application of biosensors. 16 The mechanical mixing of the EPS with the rGO at high rpm can prevent the agglomeration of the rGO over EPS which is advantageous for the continuous interconnected network.…”
