Abstract: Solvents such as butanol are important platform chemicals and are often produced from petrochemical sources. Production of butanol and other compounds from renewable and sustainable resources can be achieved by solventogenic bacteria, such as the hyper-butanol producer Clostridium saccharoperbutylacetonicum.
