Moisture transfer resistance method for liquid desiccant dehumidification analysis and optimization

Abstract: The concepts of entransy, entransy dissipation and transfer resistance are introduced into liquid desiccant dehumidification analysis to reveal the irreversibility and moisture transfer resistance between moist air and liquid desiccant. By analyzing a typical water (vapor) transfer process coupled with heat transfer, we define the concepts of mass entransy of water and its dissipation, derive the expression of moisture transfer resistance (MTR) that reflects the irreversibility of water transfer during dehumid… Show more

“…Chen et al [74][75][76][77] proposed the mass entransy dissipation (ever interpreted as mass transfer potential capacity dissipation function in [74]) extremum principle, and optimized various processes, such as laminar mass transfer [74], photocatalytic oxidation reactor, space station ventilation [76,77] and evaporative cooling systems [78][79][80], etc. Chen et al [81] proposed the moisture resistance method for liquid desiccant performance analysis and optimization.…”

“…This has already been successfully applied to heat transfer processes and apparatuses [16][17][18][19] including heat conduction, convective heat transfer, thermal radiation and heat exchangers. Chen et al subsequently extended the entransy theory to analyze and optimize the mass transfer process [20] and such coupled heat and mass transfer processes as liquid desiccant dehumidification [21] and evaporative cooling [22]. Jiang et al [23] and Xie et al [24] proposed a series of theories and methods for optimizing heat and moisture transfer based on entransy theory, which already has some applications in evaporative cooling systems.…”

“…The heat transfer was significantly enhanced by longitudinal vortex flow. Chen et al [20] defined moisture transfer resistance and optimized liquid desiccant dehumidification. Recently, Liu et al [21] studied the physical quantity synergy in a laminar flow field and its application in heat transfer enhancement.…”
