Molecular‐sieve‐based matrix solid‐phase extraction combined with field‐amplified sample stacking in capillary electrophoresis for the determination of three organic acids in a complex solid matrix

Abstract: A simple, convenient, and sensitive method that involves combining matrix solid-phase dispersion extraction with field-amplified sample stacking in capillary electrophoresis has been developed for the determination of organic acids in a complex solid matrix. Mesoporous molecular sieve, MCM-48, was synthesized by a hydrothermal method and selected as the adsorbent in matrix solid-phase dispersion. After fast extraction, the enriched analytes were back-extracted into a basic aqueous solution for field-amplified … Show more

“…A few neotype of materials were also applied as adsorbent or dispersant during the MSPD. Molecular-sieve-based MSPD has been proposed and developed for extracting the active compounds [19][20][21][22]. Molecular sieve has a 3D interconnecting network formed by silica and alumina tetrahedra as crystalline metal aluminosilicates.…”

“…In the past decades, a large number of online enrichment CE methods has been developed including field-amplified sample stacking, micelle to cyclodextrin stacking (MCDS), micelle to solvent stacking (MSS), electronic supercharging, and sweeping [15][16][17]. For the demand of higher sensitivity, the combination of multiple online preconcentration as two-step or three-step methodology such as sweeping-MSS, FASI-Sweeping-MSS, and field-enhanced sample injection (FESI)-MCDS has become a new trend [18][19][20]. Among them, FESI-MCDS is a new two-step online stacking strategy featured by simplicity, environmental friendly, and high sensitivity, which is promising for the analysis of neutral analytes in complex sample matrix.…”

“…Among these methods, on‐line sample stacking is the most popular one since it has merits of easy control, accumulating and separating analytes simultaneously, and no need to modify the instrumentation. Many on‐line stacking techniques, e.g., field‐amplified sample stacking (FASS) , micelle to solvent stacking , transient isotachophoresis , large volume sample stacking , and micelle to cyclodextrin stacking (MCDS) have been proposed and developed since the 1980s.…”
