Abstract:Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a member of the Enterobacteriaceae family. K. pneumoniae isolates produce enzymes that cause the hydrolysis of penicillins and cephalosporins.These enzymes are known as broad-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL).
