MOND-like behavior in the Dirac–Milne universe

Abstract: Aims. Observational data show that the observed luminous matter is not sufficient to explain several features of the present universe, from gravitational structure formation to the rotational velocities in galaxies and clusters. The mainstream explanation is that the missing mass, although gravitationally active, interacts very weakly with ordinary matter. Competing explanations involve changing the laws of gravity at low accelerations, as in MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND). Here, we suggest that the Dirac-… Show more

“…In Gurzadyan & Stepanian (2019c, 2021b it is proposed that the local Hubble flow is not due to the expansion of the Universe, but to the presence of the repulsive Λ term in the equations of weak-field limit of GR (cf. Chardin et al 2021). Considering a test body of mass m in the vicinity of a central body of mass M, the gravitational force acting on the test body in the context of this Λ-gravity Eq.…”

“…We note that Gurzadyan (1985) appeared before the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the Universe, and hence the emergence of the role of the cosmological constant. The generalized function satisfying Newton's basic principle of the equivalency of the gravity of a sphere and point mass was derived in Gurzadyan (1985), which contains one more term, exactly of the cosmological constant form (see discussion in Chardin et al 2021). The emerged metric for the weak-field General Relativity (GR) at spherical symmetry is (Gurzadyan & Stepanian 2018;Gurzadyan 2019)…”

“…Nevertheless, there are attempts to explain the DM by a DM-like behavior of vacuum energy [20], or a vacuum polarization induced by the gravitational field. Heuristic models of vacuum polarization like [21][22][23][24][25], which would demand dipolar fluid [26], anti-gravitation [27] or hydrodynamical phenomena in a vacuum treated as hypothetical (super-)fluid [28][29][30], are of interest.…”
