Monitoring food storage humidity and temperature data using IoT

Abstract: In food industry, cold storage is a must. The main objective of this kind of storage is to preserving the raw foods within for a certain period of time. But, for lack of technology and ignorance about humidity and temperature effect on raw foods; many times, food safety is not maintained well enough. In this paper, the basic objective of this research is to mitigate the man monitoring and to develop an internet based real time monitoring of temperature and humidity using the very available DHT-11 sensor and ES… Show more

Karim et al (2018) experimented IoT sensor technology to monitor and control food storage temperature and humidity in the real time using mobile phone. Shariff et al (2019) proposed AI-based system to monitor food grains storage system at home and connected with mobile SMS and email alert for reducing food spoilage, maintain optimal humidity and temperature in the food.…”

“…The IoT provides enormous amounts of a data whereas cloud computing is required to offer a pathway to store and prevent the data loss. Thus, cloud computing helps to increase the efficiency and control movement of IoT (Stergiou et al, 2018;Varghese & Buyya, 2018;Amoore, 2018;Karim et al, 2018). One can save the valuable time and the cost during operating data and can use the data without any redundancy by using Cloud Computing.…”

“…Special deals or prices; sharing of sensitive customers information; data that the owner would like to share in exchange for financial gain [6]. In the AgriFood supply chain, IoT devices and sensors have been used during agricultural production [7], disease management, smart harvesting [8], storage [9] and transport [10] of food, to provide a variety of important information about vegetation, soil, nutrients, used fertilizers [11], identification, location and status of food [12], state of the environment in which the food is stored or transported, these data are commercially sensitive, often provided to consumers and data buyers, but providing them without leaking confidential data of the proprietary, poses a greater challenge [13]. In addition, the devices used have special characteristics such as limited performance, mobility and distributed deployment [14] [15], making it difficult to guarantee security, privacy, and write access control of sensors and read access control of users in Internet of Things networks.…”
