More questions than answers: Current limitations of kidney transplantation treatmentThe premises of kidney transplantation treatment have not changed much in the last decades. Short-term results are excellent, but long-term graft outcome is limited. While transplantation is regarded as the best treatment for end-stage renal disease, it can be accompanied by significant comorbidities, the management of which is complicated by fundamentally unresolved issues that pose challenges to clinicians and scientists alike.
